SXSW 2013 runs from March 8-16 in rockin’ Austin, Texas. I’ve attended 61 film festivals since the start of 2006 and there isn’t another town in America that hosts events like this with as much spirit and unbridled enthusiasm.
Readers of this blog know that my annual coverage of SXSW gushes with accolades for the venues there — arguably the best in America. Many of my Top Picks from all festivals over the past eight years (out of over 1500 films) came out of SXSW. The event hasn’t changed much from its homespun early days and I absolutely believe it is a required trip for independent film lovers. Dozens of movies have their World, North American, or US Premieres there. Many Academy Award-winning films of the past few years debuted at SXSW.
